Frequently Asked Questions
What is specialty grade coffee?
Coffee scoring 80 points or higher on the 100 point scale used by the Specialty Coffee Association. Approximately 3% of global yield is considered specialty. Alexander Henry Coffee is committed to using only specialty grade coffee. (Basically a fancy term for the best coffee in the world).
What does Micro Roasted mean?
It means we roast in small batches. Roasting in small, highly controlled batches ensures exceptional quality and taste.
What kind of roaster do you use?
Electric air roasters. Also called fluid bed roasters. Clean and efficient, these roasters produce some of the best coffee you'll ever taste. All our roasters come from Coffee Crafters and are made in the USA.
I live in Ayr. When will I get my coffee order?
Same day or next. Order early and we aim for same day.
What's with the black and white bags?
Black bags are whole bean. White bags are ground.
Why do some bags look fuller than others?
Coffee is sold by weight. Light roasted beans are heavier as they contain more moisture and will take up less space in the bag. Dark roasted beans weigh less as they contain less moisture and will take up more space in the bag. Each bag will contain 340gm of coffee (actually a bit more because we always over fill). Best practice is to weigh your coffee before brewing to get consistent results.
